Swinging Sixties.......

A hot trend for the A/W collections was sixties style, both clothes and hair turned back time as they flounced down the catwalk.

Sixties Hair

Rochas had a Brigette Bardot, Prada did the beehive and Louis Vuitton stuck to the simplistic yet elegant slicked back ponytails.

The question is can you recreate this look at home without looking like a plum, and the answer is yes!

The key thing to remember when you are going for this look at home, is to be inspired and not to try and carbon copy the looks. (and to invest in a shed load of hairspray!!!)

Beautifully Messy

Sixties Clothes

Ok, so winter is setting in and the thought of rising hemlines might send you racing back under your duvet, but hear me out.

To hit the nail on the head with this trend you really need to think playful and sexy. This means you can have a high hemline in a swing dress (which also covers your wobbly xmas tum perfectly), whilst hiding your ever paling legs under over the knee socks and thick tights.

If you really can't stand the thought of baring all in the winter months, then you can still embrace the trend by going for the Mad Men inspired dresses from the sixties.

These dresses are full, below-the-knee circle skirts, with cinched in waists.

Opt for a wedge heel to give you some support whilst swishing around town, but if you want to go all out you can pop on your kitten heels.

Sixties finishing touches

Your A/W makeup should be heading back down the dewy route. Give a nod to the trend by adding a swish of black eyeliner.

Winter Must Haves

So even though the weather has been quite mild recently, I am secretly hoping that it takes a turn for the worse.

Why? you might ask. Well, not only does it mean that the nights are darker, and you have the excuse to spend most of your weekend curled up like a snugbug under a blanket with hot chocolate and a good film. But mainly because it gives me an excuse to add the following items to my wardrobe.

This is my winter must have list:

1) The Hooded Scarf (they have glove bits too!)
Whilst some people may scoff at these little things, and laugh out loud at what some consider to be as cool as a pair of earmuffs (which incidentally are also very cool), I can't wait to get my grubby mitts on a pair!

These are some of my favorites about at the moment.

Hoodie Panda Scarf - £32.99 - River Island

Hooded Scarf With Pom Poms - £26.00 - ASOS

Cable Hooded Scarf - £26.99 - Republic

2) Boots!!!!!!!
Yes, yes, yes! Now I like pretty strappy summer shoes as much as the next girl, but I LOVE a good pair of boots and I'm not talking wannabe boot shoes). They can dress any outfit up and down, and are comfy and sexy all at once.

These are the best out there at the moment (imo).

Furry Cuff Boots - £39.99 - New Look

I have just bought these and I love them! I would wear them with my jimjams if I could!

Oxygen - £155.00 - Dune

Black Ruched Long Boots - £50.00 - Next

Finally, 3) Coats, Cardigans & Jumpers
I love being comfy, so there is nothing better than a thick wrap me up piece of clothing.

These are some pieces, I'd like to melt in to.

Furry Waterfall Coat - £29.99 (on offer) - New Look
Pink Long Sleeve Jumper Dress - £34.99 - River Island

Stripe Faux Fur Cape Coat - £100.00 - Warehouse

I could go on and on but I don't think I'd be able to stop if I do. There are lots of gorgeous bits out there on the high street at the moment. So go grab yourself a warm and cuddly bargin!

My First Blog

Well, after seeing all and sundry get involved in this blogging malarkey, including my other half, I thought I'd give it a go myself.

I have to be honest with who ever is reading this, I'm really not that sure what this blog will ultimately be about. I don't want this to be a self indulgent drivelling site, where I tell you the ins and outs of my life and generally lie about how wonderful it is. I mean my life is good, and I'm happy with it but I don't want to make out that I live in some wonderland.

I just want to be able to voice my opinions about whatever I've come across and see if anyone out there in the atmosphere is in agreement.

I imagine that there will be fashion, celebs, tv and movies. I might be able to squeeze in a little sport and general life changing events. So consider me your free heat/now/more/new magazine!

So, I suppose I will write about whatever floats my boat at that moment in time, and if you enjoy it too, well great. If not, you don't have to click on the link ever again.

So, where to start........ :)
